Lamentations 3:21-23 “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
The Lord our God does what He says He will do – He is reliable, unfailing, trustworthy, and steadfast. From the day of our salvation, when we recognized that we were sinners on our way to hell, repented, and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, we are able to rest “being confident of this very thing, that he that hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” Philippians 1:6
We can trust in God’s faithfulness because:
1. He knows everything about what we are going through and why we are going through it.
2. He has all power to meet our every need, and to enable us to walk through our trials. He works out purposes in our life for his glory and for our good. The Lord knows we profit most from our trials.
3. He is always with us. We are never alone.
4. The Lord never changes. Everything about us changes, but He never does.
And what is the basis for trusting? It is believing everything His holy word says He is and does.
1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such a is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
He is faithful in times of trial – The Lord puts a limit on our trials, he will not allow us to be tried more than we can bear. As we trust in Him, and lean on Him, He will help us through the trial, so that we may bear it.
Psalm 91:1-2 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Proverbs 3:24-26 “When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken”
God is faithful in times of fear and uncertainty – he is our refuge and our fortress.
If you trust in His faithfulness, you will be shielded from worry. His faithfulness supports us with sustaining strength for every day of our lives. The Lord’s faithfulness gives us peace through everything.
